Chief Medical Officer & Physician-in-Chief, Nemours Children's Hospital
Lane F. Donnelly, MD serves as Chief Medical Officer and Physician-in-Chief of Nemours Children's Hospital. Nemours Children's Hospital is located in the integrated pediatric health care campus at Lake Nona's Medical City in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Donnelly is also Vice President and a member of the Executive Team at Nemours, one of the nation's leading pediatric health systems. As the Nemours Chair of Radiology, he also oversees all pediatric radiology services across the enterprise.
Prior to coming to Nemours, Dr. Donnelly was Radiologist-in-Chief, Frederic N. Silverman Chair of Pediatric Radiology, and Director of Biodiagnostics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Under Dr. Donnelly's leadership, the CCHMC radiology department achieved recognition as a national leader in pediatric imaging for research, education, and quality and safety.
Dr. Donnelly earned his undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency at the University Hospital Medical Center at the University of Cincinnati and a pediatric radiology fellowship at CCHMC. He was on faculty at Duke University prior to returning to CCHMC.
Dr. Donnelly is a nationally recognized physician and scholar with accomplishments in research, multidisciplinary care, teaching, patient safety and quality improvement. He has taught at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Duke University Medical School, and authored more than 215 peer-reviewd journal publications as well as leading textbooks in pediatric imaging such as Pediatric Imaging: the Fundamentals, and Diagnostic Imaging: Pediatrics. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the American Board of Radiology and has held leadership roles in organiztions such as the Society for Pediatric Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America. Dr. Donnelly's numerous honors for research in quality and safety include the Singleton-Taybi Award for Lifetime Achievements in Education from the Society for Pediatric Radiology, in April 2009 as well as the being an co-investigator on projects winning the Caffey Award, the award for the best research presented at the Society for Pediatric Radiology meeting on three occasions.
